When I asked a friend his feedback on Haramie.com portal and what his expectations would be with such a name- he said it sounded something about negative things or could be on pessimistic things like crime and criminals (and he would never like to read such content). Another suggested  it could be a complaint box. Third friend suggested it could be right name for Gaming site in an Indian scenario. One other friend advised, everybody goes to websites for free movies and nobody cares a site without entertainment – primarily movies, youtube etc. Everyone agreed it was weird but a name they can remember and yeah, it was clear to them that if at all the site is going to be made- its going to be another content site. All I have to do is specialize on the content.

So what should the site be like:

1. The site obviously will cover crime aspects, not from bashing an event or the person perspective- but in a way to understand the thought process behind the crime. One individual crime is of least significance but a crime perpetuated due to socio-political or cultural  Dogmas and unethical economic benefits like corruption, insane wars, terrorism should be addressed.

2. All problems that don’t have a solution are complaints. Building a site that gives solutions in atleast couple of domains seems to be a good idea

3. The most difficult part – how important is the entertainment. Most people google internet for entertainment and we need traffic too. There are many sites doing news- we really dont want to do the same stuff. Also there are many doing free movie portal – so I wont put my time posting movie links.

4. Gaming – I don’t have the resources nor the interest.

let me list my interests- History, Politics, Movies, Start-ups, Businesses, Green living, Ecology, Games, health, Fitness and Food in that order.

My values – Free Markets, Personal Freedoms, Limited Government, Pro-choice, Green Living, Ideas for better life.

The other topics that I am interested in are Corporate Crime, Political crimes, Greed, Weird things and black humour.

The only way to touch the above topics is through Instant Question and Answer portal. To discuss an idea using Q&A is as easy as in twitter. This way, the discussion is to the point, fast and simple. Hence the model. Feel free to comment and give feedback.

By the way, here is the etymology for ‘haram’ie – derivative of arabic word haram.

As per Islamic – Dictionary:Harami means Thief or Burglar.

Harami in Islamic sense also means One who identifies as Muslim but is not confined to established doctrine. Derived from “haram,” Arabic for ‘forbidden’.

As per Urban Dictionary, Its an Indian word for bastard.

On this portal, we intend to extend the use the word haramie for anything/anybody which doesnt live up to the expected norms of nature and society. There is a percentage of Haramieness in everyone.

And to my friend who said nobody wants to read about criminals – these 1% people are the ones that impact everybody else. They create wars, kill people, policies are made, changed and updated because of them and for them, people make movies of them, write novels and they are the newsmakers. As RGV says who really cares about a person who is law abiding, works hard, pays bills, takes care of his family and does everything right – who wants to know them?

*****Finally some clarity on what I want from this site – basically its about people. Heroes and Villains of my today. This was what I exactly thought when I registered this domain. Got into this confusion because of tools, page views, google analytics and adsense.
